Well the iPad 2 has been out for just over a month now, so I thought it was high time for an article comparing the first iPad to the iPad 2, and helping you to see why you should get one yourself.

Let’s start with the most obvious feature of both the iPads, the screen, both of the iPads have the same 9.7″ LED-backlit IPS LCD screen, so no difference there, with both of them having the same resolution.

Next, the processor, now this is different, the first iPad has a 1GHz Apple A4 processor where as the iPad 2 has a 1 GHz ‘Dual-core’ Apple A5 processor, which means the speed will be noticeable different, giving you faster load times and being able to deliver better graphics (that’s 9x better graphics!) then on the original iPad, so you will be able to play games without any compromise. The iPad has 256MB of DDR RAM, where as the iPad comes with 512MB of DDR2 RAM, which is only going to help improve your speed and experience of the iPad 2

There won’t be any change in the storage sizes of the iPads, both of them will still have (the standard) 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, more than enough space when you are on the go.

There are a few more features which are the same on both iPads, such as both of them have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g and n, EDGE plus triband (iPad 2 has quad band) HSPA and Bluetooth 2.1. The last feature that both of the iPads share is the 3-axis accelerometer, and that’s where the similarities end.

Now for the new features that the iPad 2 has, the main new feature that the iPad 2 has that the iPad didn’t have, is the 3-axis gyroscope.

As well as this, the iPad 2 has two cameras, one front facing and one rear, the front facing camera is VGA, and the rear camera is 720p, which means that you can now take photos and record videos on the go, the iPad 2 also now supports Face Time, so you can chat to your nearest and dearest on the go.

The thickness of the iPad 2 is just 8.8mm, where as the iPad was 13.4mm, that means that apple managed to shave of a third of the thickness, as well as that, the iPad 2 is lighter, at just 601g, compared to the 680g for the iPad, whilst shaving the weight, Apple have managed to keep the same amazing battery life that the iPad had.

To finish this new iPad 2 launch off, Apple also created a Smart Cover, which was designed alongside the iPad, to make them a perfect match for each other. The iPad smart cover comes in 10 bright colours, including give which are in rich aniline-dyed Italian leather.

That’s everything that you need to know about the iPad 2, if that hasn’t made you want to buy one, then it may not be for you, but you will be missing out.

Oh, one more thing, from day 1, the free iPad 2 comes in black, and white!

Ever heard the statement, “Bigger is better?” With the iPad, this seems to be true. Before this tablet device came out, some people criticized it, dismissing it as nothing but an oversized iPod Touch or a giant iPhone. But when people all over the world bought the iPad in droves and made it the bestselling, number one must-have new product, the critics had to bite their tongues and acknowledge they were mistaken. Far from just being an “oversized iPod Touch,” the iPad is a revolutionary product that is changing the way people read, play, work and communicate. The coming of the iPad heralded what is now dubbed the “tablet revolution.” People in the know are now saying that 2011 is the year of the tablet, and the iPad surely had something to do with it.

But what exactly is so great about the iPad? Why is it better than the iPhone or the iPod Touch? Below are some of the reasons why the iPad is a superior device.

First, size matters. At about ten inches across, the iPad is considerably bigger than the iPhone or the iPod Touch (these latter two are approximately of the same size, 3.5 inches). This means better Internet browsing, better video and picture viewing, better reading, and better use of apps in general on the iPad tablet device. In fact, gadget-loving people of all ages and persuasions are re-discovering the pleasures of reading because of the iPad. “E-reading” on the iPad brings a novel feel to the age-old pastime, and sales of e-books have gone up when the iPad entered the market. Ipad apps such as iBooks and Kindle, in addition to various magazine and newspaper iPad apps, all helped to bring this about.

Not only is the iPad bigger in physical size; it also has a greater screen resolution of 1024×768 pixels. (The iPhone’s is only 480×320.) Moreover, the iPad has bigger storage space of up to 64 GB, considered roomy enough for anyone’s favorite collection of videos, pictures and documents.

Another advantage of the iPad is that it makes typing emails and documents much more easy than on the iPhone. The iPad has a large on-screen keyboard that allows fast, easy and almost error-free data input. This keyboard becomes even bigger and more convenient to use when the iPad is rotated in landscape mode. And if this isn’t enough, one can always choose to buy a separate, physical keyboard that can be connected to the iPad through a cable or wirelessly via bluetooth. Writers and people who type a lot often choose this option.

Speaking of typing and documents, there are a lot of iPad apps that can help anyone compose email messages, articles and literary works, and all kinds of documents. Most popular of these apps are Pages and Numbers, which are Apple’s versions of the ubiquitous Microsoft Word and Excel.

Currently, there are far more apps available for the iPhone than for the iPad. However, a huge majority of these iPhone apps can be installed on the iPad too, and they work just as fine. Also, many apps for Apple products have both iPhone and iPad versions. Almost all the time, the iPad version looks and works better simply because of the larger screen. At a glance, one can easily see more detail and information.

While the iPad clearly has more to offer than the iPhone, the latter is not without its advantages too. Because it is smaller, the iPhone can be pocketed while the iPad cannot. The iPhone can make calls too, which the iPad cannot do. But then again, the iPad was never intended to be used as a phone. It is simply a great tablet device for multimedia viewing, connecting online, games and entertainment, as well as work.

From the time when it was little more than supposition the Apple iPad has been one of the most rumored and hyped about gadgets ever. After the official introduction of the iPad by Steve Jobs on January 27, 2010, one of the constant themes in the media coverage has been about how the iPad will make dedicated ereaders obsolete.

Now that the iPad has been out for a while and we have been able to use it we can make some more informed judgments as to what its strengths and weaknesses are. Here I will look at the iPad in terms of how well it performs as an ereader.

First of all, the display of the iPad is gorgeous. The color LCD display is beautiful, the touchscreen is very responsive, and the iPad is quite fast. These features make the iPad not only very good for watching video, viewing photos, browsing the Internet, gaming and other such activities; they also make it very well suited to reading magazines, newspapers, comics and illustrated books.

Magazines and newspapers also benefit from the interactive approach that is possible on a device such as the iPad. Being able to tap a hyperlink to reach more in-depth reading about a story or to access additional illustrations is well suited to reading periodicals.

Reading PDF documents on the iPad with an app such as GoodReader also works very well. Panning and zooming with your fingers on the multitouch display is very quick and works well. Unfortunately, while the iPad is very good for viewing PDF documents, most of the apps are not capable of editing or making annotations. Generally speaking, I have found the iPad to be best suited for viewing content and less well suited to creating and editing content.

But what about reading ordinary books that are mostly if not entirely text? The aspect of reading books on the iPad that I like best is the access it gives you to eBooks from different sources. Besides iBooks, which is the reading app from Apple and which seems mainly oriented to those who prefer titles from the bestsellers lists, there are also the Kindle for iPad app, an app from Kobo Books and a Wattpad reading app. An app should also be forthcoming soon from Barnes and Noble. This gives you access to the Kindle Store as well as to eBooks with DRM supported by Adobe Digital Editions.

The Kindle for iPad app is good as it not only gives you access to the best eBook provider (currently with over 500,000 titles), but will also sync your last read page with your Kindle ereader or the Kindle apps for other devices. This is also the only eBook reading app at the moment that lets you take notes on your reading.

While the iPad does work very well for reading illustrated books and magazines, there are some drawbacks to using it for reading regular books that are all or mostly text. First of all, at one and a half pounds, the iPad weighs considerably more than most ereaders. This fact makes it less portable and less comfortable to use in some situations. Holding the iPad with only one hand does not work very well. If you commute by public transit, it will be harder to use an iPad on a crowded train or subway car.

Most ereaders with e-ink screens have a battery life measured in thousands of page turns and usually need to be recharged every ten days to two weeks. The iPad battery lasts ten to twelve hours.

The iPad is pretty much unreadable outdoors in the sunshine. In a shady location outdoors the screen is readable, though you will probably find yourself tilting the screen to find the most glare-free position. There have as well been early reports of the iPad overheating when used in sunshine. Dedicated ereaders with e-ink screens are perfectly readable outdoors in sunlight or shade – if you do a lot of your reading at the beach a Kindle would definitely be a better choice than the iPad!

Some of the dedicated ereaders such as the Kindle have a free 3G connection you can use to browse and purchase eBooks and then download your selections directly to your ereader within a few seconds. With the iPad Wi-Fi obviously you will need to be able to connect with a wireless network. With the 3G version of the iPad (which starts at over $600) you will need to pay a monthly fee for the connection.

Only iBooks (which only has 60,000 titles to start) will let you purchase eBooks from within the app. If you are using the Kindle for iPad or another ereader app you will be dropped into a browser to shop the app’s eBook store rather than from within the app itself. When finished shopping you will have to restart the reading app. This can be less convenient and involves more steps than buying books on the Kindle. This is not a big issue for me, but some users do complain about it.

There are lots and lots of things to do on the iPad. This is a good thing… but it also means that there are always lots of things to distract you from your reading.

In my case the worst thing about using the iPad as an ereader is the backlit screen. I can stare into my computer monitor up to 12 or more hours a day – browsing the Internet, working with documents, playing games and the other things most of us use our computers for and usually I do not suffer from eyestrain. However, I have never enjoyed reading more than a few pages of an eBook at a time on an LCD monitor. Reading a book is different than browsing the Internet or working with documents because books are made up of long unbroken blocks of text.

I find that the iPad does cause eyestrain for me when reading books. Turning down the brightness level helps but it does not solve the problem, at least for me. Most of the reading apps on the iPad include a “Night Mode” feature that gives you a light colored text on dark background (as opposed to the conventional black text on white background) that does help reduce eyestrain in my case. Still, I have both dedicated ereaders and an iPad and I usually prefer to read books on the e-ink screens of the ereaders, which are no more tiring on your eyes than reading paper. I usually use the iPad for reading books that are unavailable on my particular ereaders. There are also occasions when the backlit screen can be advantageous when reading in a dark environment.

For casual readers who usually only read for no more than 20 to 30 minutes at a time the iPad will probably be fine, but if you typically read for longer periods at a sitting it may be uncomfortable for you. How much eyestrain reading long blocks of text on a backlit screen causes will vary from person to person, but for most people reading a book for an hour or two on an LCD screen is probably going to be an unpleasant experience.

While the iPad is a wonderful gadget and has many uses, when it comes to reading eBooks I think that it will probably work best for occasional or casual readers. If you read a lot you will probably find that it is not as good as a dedicated ereader for reading eBooks.

Every few days I am asked what are the best apps for the iPad and what my iPad favorite apps are. In fact, last May, I wrote about My 12 Favorite iPad Apps where I called out 12 of the best apps for iPad so I thought I’d revisit the list to see if my favorites have changed. As expected, my top apps for iPad have evolved over time. For example, only three of the twelve iPad apps have remained on my list for best apps for iPad including Kindle, Zinio and Mail.

#12 Starting at #12, iBooks makes the best iPad app list. The one and only reason iBooks made my iPad apps favorite list is because iBooks provides an excellent interface to store and read PDFs.

Having used several PDF readers including the popular GoodReader for the iPad, I prefer the way iBooks stores the PDFs showing the PDFs cover in the library view and the ability to sync via iTunes or attached to an email that you open and send to the iBooks app and these features make iBooks one of the best apps on iPad.

There are a few features in iBooks I don’t use including the fact iBooks provides access to Apple’s iBookstore which allows you to download and read the latest books and classics. Additionally you can make notes and highlight passages in your eBook and use AirPrint to print the PDF with your notes included.

#11 My next best app for iPad and latest obsession/time sink is Words for Friends HD. If you have not heard of Word for Friends, you must be the only one! Words with Friends HD is a crossword game (think Scrabble) that is socially played against friends with a NewToy Inc account. While there is an iPhone app for Words with Friends, the larger screen of the iPad allows better vision across the entire board allowing me to smoke my foes!

#10 The iPad app on my iPad favorite apps list is one of the best iPad apps for kids available and my four year old daughter’s favorite iPad app. DressUpBaby provides an intuitive and simple interface for my four year old daughter using cute characters and funky clothes and accessories. I randomly receive outfits emailed from my daughter using the camera function on one of her top apps for iPad.

#9 Next on my list of iPad best apps is also one of my iPad productivity apps. Remoter is a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client for the iPad that provides the ability to virtually control your desktop over the network from your iPad. I’ve used the client to control both Windows and Mac machines, but VNC will also work with various UNIX flavors. This app has saved me too many times while I’m out but needed something from work making this one of my best iPad apps.

#8 Whistle turns my iPad into a networked conference phone making this app high on my best apps for iPad. I use Whistle as a client for an Asterix PBX, a 3rd party SIP service) that allows me to make a call from the “office” anywhere that I have an Internet connection. Whistle provides integration with my Contacts (which is synced with Google’s cloud) and with the latest iOS loaded I can continue Whistle calls in the background as I continue to use the iPad. Speakerphone works amazingly, but Whistle also supports the Apple Headphones allowing you to answer calls with the center button. This app enables business and is one of my top productivity apps for iPad providing a business tool to work virtually.

#7 Kindle constantly makes everyone’s best iPad apps list and is no exception for the Geeks favorite apps for iPad. The Kindle app provides an easy to use interface and provides access to Amazon’s Whispersync service to automatically sync your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across your Kindle devices. The Amazon Kindle store provides over 800K eBooks at the same price or better than other eBook retailers.

#6 Next on my best apps for the iPad list, Toodledo provides access to my cloud-based task manager service and provides easy access to my to do list. Apple ranked Toodledo in the top 30 paid iPad apps of all time, and in the top 200 for iPhone – Jan 2011 and is one of my favorite iPad apps and one of my top productivity apps for iPad.

#5 Evernote is another cloud-based note service that is one of my top productivity apps for iPad and one of the best apps for iPad. The Evernote iPad app provides my primary interface to take and view notes, including voice notes, while I’m not in my home office. Evernote then automatically syncs with the cloud-based service so you can view the notes on the iPad, one of the desktop Evernote applications, or the web. The Evernote app was inducted into the Apple “App Hall of Fame”, on the NY Times “Top 10 Must-Have Apps” list and has been the winner of the Best Mobile App Award from TechCrunch, Mashable and the Webbys and, in my opinion, one of the best apps on iPad.

#4 One of the included apps, the Calendar app, is one of my most used and therefore one of my iPad favorite apps. The Calendar iPad App is laid out well and keeps my schedule straight by syncing with Google’s cloud-based calendar service.

#3 If you subscribe to Netflix, you should have one of the best iPad apps available to access the service with the Netflix app. The app provides access to your Netflix account to instantly watch TV shows and movies streaming from Netflix as part of your Netflix unlimited membership. I use this app almost nightly to watch TV shows and is one of the best apps on iPad.

#2 Zinio is one of my favorite apps for iPad and using Zinio I receive all my magazine digitally instead in the mail as the Zinio iPad app provides thousands of magazine titles with special interactive and graphical features synced directly to your iPad. I started using Zinio over 5 years ago, and those archived magazines are available through the Zinio app!

#1 Ever since getting the iPad, I’ve used the device as my primary means of obtaining most of my work and all of my personal email using the included Mail App and therefore, Mail is my best iPad app. The interface is great for a tablet and thanks to the portable nature of the device, the Mail App helps maintain my quest to maintain a zero inbox.

The tablet PC, portable small-screen multi-touch, like the innovative iPad Apple, are the result of developments in recent years: touch screens more efficient operating systems more friendly and intuitive, the greater autonomy of the batteries and saving resources computer, making it lighter and more compact.

The combination of these innovations in enabling a product as versatile and multimedia as iPad from Apple. However, it will not be the one. Models from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Toshiba will begin shipping soon.

iPad is available in two versions: with only Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and 3G. Each version exists with different memory capacities (16, 32, and 64 GB).

Our analysis to iPad

iPad went on sale in the United States in early April. We tested the base model Wi-Fi 16GB. The package includes a USB adapter, a 10 watts charger, and a quick start guide.

Dimensions
iPad measuring 190 x 243 x 14 mm and weighs 688 grams. With only 688 grams, is a computer very light: less than a pound, on average, than a net book too thin. However, given that, you must handle it with your hands (without a table); 700 grams can become uncomfortable after some time.

Screen
iPad has a widescreen multi-touch, with a diagonal of 9.7 inches and a resolution of 1024×768 pixels. The fingerprints on the screen of iPad almost unnoticeable when used inside, with good lighting conditions. However, the same does not go abroad, not because of fingerprints, but for lack of contrast and, especially, for being too reflective.

Operating system and applications
iPad works with the iPhone operating system OS 3.2, an adapted version of the iPhone. Brings few premises of origin. To install new software, you must visit the App Store, at Apple’s site. Many applications are paid.

The applications were the main reason for the success of the iPhone. Marked the difference between Apple’s Smartphone and the competition. Only time will tell whether it will be repeated with the iPad.

In iPad, you can download programs originally designed for the iPhone, though on a smaller scale of 1:1. The image will appear with the screen size of iPhone, unless you choose to expand it, but in this case, it becomes diffuse and loses clarity.

If you already had acquired a program for the iPhone, will have to pay again to download it for iPad.

Limited Multitasking
You can switch instantly iPad, unlike other machines, which take some time to boot. Moreover, it reacts quickly to “touch” of the user and, when requested, applications open almost instantly. The ability to multitask (multitasking) the iPad is very limited. You can listen to music while writing a query mails or text, for example. However, does not use other programs at the same time. However, for many customers the lack of multitasking is not a drawback: they open multiple applications and use one at a time, using the home button. When you press this button, the application freezes. When it is open again, starts exactly where it was left.

Very basic connections
iPad has some basic buttons to adjust the volume, for example, and an input for headphones. You do not have a webcam or HDMI connector, a USB or a memory card reader. Will need to purchase some accessories to solve these problems.

Good sound
The sound is of excellent quality both with headphones and in the small speakers, despite its small size. Is not comparable to a stereo Hi-Fi, but it is better than a netbook. Bring a microphone to make voice calls over IP or voice recording. Although there is still no version of Skype for iPad, can use that is designed for the iPhone, using the microphone and speakers in the iPad. However, you can not leave Skype logged in while doing another task, because iPad can not use multiple applications simultaneously (multitasking).

Autonomy for a day’s work
The battery passed with distinction the hard evidence that was submitted. We can see YouTube videos via Wi-Fi during 6 hours and 45 minutes. When playing videos downloaded and stored in internal memory, hung on for eight hours and a quarter. The test was carried out in demanding conditions, with the screen brightness and volume to maximum. Featuring high precision of the indicator of battery charge.

Main tasks
• Browse the Internet – iPad has a good browser and a good screen size. However, it does not support Flash technology, which prevents come and see some sites or content.

• Write IN an iPad – with the integrated keyboard on the screen is not comfortable for long texts. But you can write fairly quickly. Position the cursor in situations that require some precision, for example, to correct a word, is not easy. Still, the experience exceeded our expectations.

• Reading e-books – is a better player itself. We compared with a Kindle. The latter is best in almost all respects. It has half the weight and use of electronic ink technology, which makes the viewing experience very pleasant, almost as if reading a paper document. Moreover, it can be used outdoors, even in bright sunlight (photo). Battery life is incomparable: 1 week instead of 10 hours.

If instead of e-books, you want digital editions of newspapers and magazines, iPad gains clear advantage, because the Kindle’s screen is not colour.

• The videos are very good in iPad, when viewed under good lighting. However, given its shape, it is necessary to hold the iPad all the time, unless you buy a base (iPad case), to put it upright. There are also some compatibility issues video formats, e.g., divx or avi.

• Strengths – multimedia games: a touch interface, which fits perfectly with some types of games, the big screen, and the price. While iPad is more expensive than a DS and a PSP, games are much cheaper. In contrast, the size makes it not as transportable as a portable console.

• Send emails and write documents are smaller tasks that iPad can make. But to work in day-to-day, the tablet from Apple is not ideal. Even installing office applications such as iWork, iPad can not be seen as working computer. Keynote (for presentations), Numbers (for tables) and Pages (word processing) are, for now, the only office applications for the Apple iPad.

They are very simple and intuitive and enable you to read and edit Office documents: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. However, we discovered some compatibility problems with certain formats. Serve for some tasks, but if you want to be 100% sure that you are viewing as an Office file was created; there is no alternative but to use a PC. With Pages, you can export a file in Word format. Rather, with the Numbers and Keynote, you can not create an xls and ppt file, but only in itself or in pdf format.

Is iPad good for me?

iPad is a computer with appealing design, designed for the entertainment, to use while sitting on the couch or away from home. Lets you surf the Internet, send emails, write short texts, using social networks, see and show photos and videos, read a newspaper or magazine in digital format or play. Works well, is convenient, easily transportable, and has an intuitive.

iPad 2 review

The iPad2-release date in the US was March 11th. Review of Apple’s iPad 2 is not a simple one way task. The new iPad 2 compared to last year’s extremely popular version, the iPad 2 is almost equivalent with regards to software, nevertheless more improved and also similar in terms of the hardware side at the same time.

The new iPad 2 has a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 display and although inside there is a new dual core A5 CPU, more memory and a couple of new cameras, the majority of the iPad 2′s changes are merely decorative.
The iPad 2 will probably still stand above its competitors. This means the new iPad 2, a slimmer, even faster version of the original is probably not changing many of its new surfaces however it’s already at the forefront of the herd.

The questions are is the iPad 2 worth an upgrade for people who own the first version? Moreover, does the new version have the required capabilities to get new customers to the brand? Those inquirers and more will be answered in this review, so.just read on.

The iPad 2 release date in the US was March 11th. From a manufacturing style and design viewpoint, the new iPad 2 significantly increased the criteria with a beautiful appealing computer appliance. For anyone who is the owner of the first device, you already know there were no short cuts taken in the design aspect, nevertheless its latest version takes it to a whole other level. The very first thing you will likely notice with regard to the iPad 2 is that it’s amazingly thin. In the widest peak of it, the tablet is only 0.35-inches as opposed to the original iPad being one half inch of width. The device is marginally shorter compared to the prior model but additionally somewhat less wider, only 7.3-inches opposed to the iPad’s 7.47-inches. The iPad 2 really seems incredibly slender whenever one will hold it.

Steve Jobs stated at the unveiling event, the unit is thinner compared to the amazingly thin iPhone 4 which is an impressive accomplishment taking into consideration what’s stored within the iPad 2. The most dramatic change is the weight. At 680 grams, the iPad 2 is 80g lighter compared first iPad.

Much like the first version, the iPad version 2 frontages of the unit is entirely comprised of the screen, the home button is located in the bottom of the panel. The iPad 2 does include a camera opposite from that button towards the top of the unit, however the small camera is hardly detectable. Around back there’s the known, sleek lightweight aluminum from the prior version. It does feel marginally smoother here, a modest spotted speaker grid about the downwards left, a camera about the top left, and based upon which model you will get, the 3G iPad version 2 antenna across the top back. The volume controls and mute button sit on the rear left side of the device; while on the right you can find the Micro SIM slot (on 3G iPad 2 versions). The top reveals a power up / sleep button about the higher right side. Most of the features are well known for an iPad, but all well and neatly assembled on this tiny body figure.

In all, the iPad 2 has an extremely tidy attractive and sexy kit.

Images and Snap shots, don’t fairly represent the true experience of the iPad 2 and its look and feel. The iPad 2 feels extremely astonishing in your hands.

Putting aside the smart development it provides with a feeling of a real pleasure. Apple is recognized for its professional unique design and the new iPad 2 is brilliantly and carefully assembled.

iPad 2 Features

A lot has been talked about in terms of what is new on the interface of the iPad 2.

To begin with, the iPad 2 is ‘twice as fast’ as the original iPad, running the brand-new dual core A5 CPU built by ARM.

Actually the difference between the speed of the performance of the first iPad and the iPad version 2 is not that noticeable.

Several apps, such as the Safari browser and the iPad 2 media app, start up as quickly as the first iPad. However you will find that apps such as iMovie and GarageBand do run considerably faster.

There’s now 512MB of RAM in the iPad 2, bringing it up to iPhone 4 specifications, which actually already seems low to us. A device of the iPad 2nd generation in this particular category should likely end up having 1GB, though there are no memory concerns. Strangely is that the size and the resolution of the new iPad 2 screens is identical to the screen size and resolution of the original iPad with just 1024 x 768 pixels. The screen is similar to the first model, a 1024 x 768, 9.7 inch display. Although the display looks good we would love it if there would be a uplift and update in the iPad 2nd generation resolution.

The vast majority of the update power on the new iPad 2 arises from the A5 processor and our initial tests reveal that this dual-core chip can give some noticable quality speed, particularly in apps like iMovie.

We also made a small test by turning on the iPad 2nd generation media player on both the iPad and the iPad 2 with the exact same music and movie files and noticed some speed variations – the iPad 2 finished loading just a couple of seconds sooner than the first iPad.

A few other features are also new or increased their performance:

Both of the two iPad 2 cameras, one being for photos and the other for video chats, have a faster visuals engines which will make games more accessible.

Despite having the faster processor and improved graphics engine, the battery of the iPad 2 still persists about ten hours.

On the speaker front, Apple has transferred the iPad’s single speaker towards the back of the device. The sound seems crisper and relatively quieter compared to the previous iPad version and that we can’t say is a significant advancement in terms of the location in the new iPad.

iPad 2 Internet and Browsing Features

Apple has applied the Safari browser on iPad 2 and its upgraded engine, saying performance is double the speed faster. Within our findings that statement is a bit of exaggeration.

Regarding sites that use HTML5, we saw a really good performance from the iPad 2nd generation. The sites loaded up quickly and formatted images properly.

Sites that make major use of Adobe Flash failed to load because of the iPad 2 is short of Flash support.

Flash video websites only loaded in bits and failed to play videos. There is still loads of data we couldn’t view because Apple won’t provide Flash support on its device.

To conclude, internet browsing is not a really good incentive to upgrade to the iPad 2 – it runs with comparable speed as the original iPad.

iPad 2 Media Features

Apple wins hands-down for media availability when compared to other tablets.

One of the iPad 2 specs is that you can rent or buy almost any TV show or movie, find albums from virtually any indie performer in the world and have the iPad 2 automatically download audio and video media without any hassle. This is one of the main achievements and one of the main iPad specs in which the iPad 2 have a strong dominate over other tablets is the easy and accessible feature to content, because they have licensing arrangements for enormous quantity of content.

Yet, the iPad 2 does not really improve on media viewing itself.

In HD movies that we played on the new iPad 2, the stream was smooth yet the iPad 2 still leaves room for improvement, as it could offer a display with a more colorful and sharper look.

For anyone who wish to get video over to your TV, you might want to grab Apple’s new HDMI dongle anther one of the iPad 2 specs, that enables you to connect straight into your HDTV. The adapter worked perfectly and once an HD video was running within the iPad 2, it sent that content to the TV without any difficulty or problems in any aspect.

Home Sharing is among the latest features of the iPad 2nd generation.

Basically, it suggests that you are able to stream music, movies, and TV shows from your computer over Wi-Fi, you of course still have to get the content. You simply cannot watch media straight from the web without bringing into play the third-party application such as Netflix.

Within our tests, several episodes of 30 rock streamed easily and properly coming from a MacBook Pro.

With Video formats there were excellent results with platforms such as H.264 MPEG-4 and we discovered that, as expected, formats like Windows Media did not work. Moreover the widely used open-source HD format MKV file failed to work in the new iPad. For now, you might need a VLC application in order to use those files.

iPad 2, iMovie and GarageBand apps

The known iMovie application provides plenty of accessible features for video editing, plus it manages to do it inexpensively, at merely $4.99. iMovie app now enables you to edit both videos you’ve shot within unit and imported files in a user friendly platform that’s actually more user friendly than its desktop space.

You’ll be able to instantly upload your material to a selection of sources, including YouTube, Vimeo, CNN’s iReport, and Facebook and yes it can be done in HD. From our experience, the process worked flawlessly.

Another great app is the GarageBand app, that one is truly a wonder app. The app includes numerous pianos, guitars and drums, along with other musical instruments. Above all, these instruments, especially the piano and drums, reply to soft touches and stiff finger presses perfectly.

iPad 2 Smart Cover

The iPad 2 Apple’s Smart Covers nifty modest cover case are mainly touch screen protectors using a number of sharp magnets across the side area as opposed to having to wrap around your new iPad or holding the device with straps.

The cover attaches with effectively fitted magnets and protecting and covering your new iPad and results in a very impressive effect..

Furthermore the covers put your device to sleep and wake it as you close or open the flaps. The covers also have a microfiber inside layer, which would seem to help keep your screen clean.

We were very impressed with the benefit of the Smart Cover and their overall appearance.

iPad 2 Camera and Multimedia

As the well known addition for the iPad 2nd generation, the front iPad 2 camera and the back camera, are certainly a welcome addition, yet it is not ideal for any professional photography or for high-def video chats. The iPad 2 is not a flawless device, in fact in our findings the iPad2 cameras are really less than ideal.

It’s annoying due to the fact that if the standard resulted in being higher, the iPad 2 camera might have become a great chat tool.

First, for photography, the rear-facing iPad 2 camera records video at 960×720. However in our tests, the recorded video looked rather poorly and simply not good enough. Worse was the 0.7-megapixel new iPad 2 camera is below average.

Most test images looked slightly blurry.

The front VGA-resolution iPad 2 cameras aren’t a great deal better. You can capture 0.3-megapixel still images, yet its almost impossible to utilize it for anything aside from plain dull portraits.

In a FaceTime video iPad 2 specs, the video quality looked incredibly the same as the plain basic iPhone 4 cameras.

Conclusion
For now we quite simply think that the new iPad 2 is the best tablet available on the market. For those who own the first iPad, unfortunately we cannot suggest that an iPad upgrade is a must. If you don’t necessarily need cameras on your tablet, you’ve still got a worthy device that still holds a lot of the assets of the latest OS and applications. However we can understand an iPad upgrade based upon the fact that the new design and style speaks for itself in encouraging anyone wishing to upgrade his or her iPad. It’s simply stunning, and maintains the solid, premium feel as the initial iPad.

For those of you who haven’t yet gotten the iPad’s product we can highly recommend that you try the iPad2 as it’s certainly a high-quality piece of device.

If you’ve got an iPad, or are getting one in the near future, make sure you take the time to look at good quality iPad cases. The best iPad case is designed not only to help your iPad look its best, but to protect it knocks, drops and against keys and other items in your bag.

The iPad is extremely popular as a gadget that can be taken wherever you go. But with anything so portable, it puts it at risk of damage. Here is a quick explanation of the various vulnerabilities of this gadget:

Scratches: Even just leaving the iPad in a handbag next to your keys could leave you regretting not buying an iPad cover case.

Moisture: Some iPad cover/cases are designed to be waterproof and protect against any liquid that could come into contact with the gadget.

Dropping: Even the best quality iPad case can’t stop you from dropping your iPad! But they can help to give an extra layer of protection to help keep the device working properly.

iPad Cover/ Case Choices

Now you know all about the ways in which you can damage your iPad, it’s time to stop it happening!

Invisible Screen Protectors: These offer the basic protection of adding a thin layer of plastic over the screen of your iPad to prevent scratches. These can also be added to the back of the iPad. Although they can be a bit fiddly to apply, once they’re on you won’t even notice!

Skins: iPad skins can come in either soft or hard materials, and basically fit themselves tightly around the shape of the iPad to protect it against minor bumps and scratches.

Sleeve: A sleeve is simply a fitted pouch for your iPad which is useful for keeping it protected against dirt etc.

Folio: This is a very professional-looking, folded case that can give a high level of protection. They’re usually made out of hard materials.

Hard Vs. Soft Cases: There are many more types of iPad case that make use of either hard or soft materials. Some are very thin and offer little protection, so the best iPad case is generally one that’s either padded or in a tough material that can withhold bumps.

The best option is to find an iPad cover/ case that suits the way you use your iPad. It’s important to keep your iPad protected – it’s an expensive device, after all. Just make sure that any case fits your iPad properly to keep the functions accessible when it’s on.

This article attempts to go over a few easy ways you can fix common iPad problems. Should your iPad be acting strangely or erratically, it’s actually possible that a certain part within the unit may be the cause. If that’s the case you might not have much choice but to ship your iPad returning to Apple for repairs. Thankfully, most glitches are short-lived and can be frequently repaired by making use of a number of the following methods:

Battery. Make certain your iPad is fully charged. More often than not, whenever your iPad isn’t functioning correctly, we have found it is due to a fully drained battery. Recharge your battery by connecting your iPad to your personal computer or to your iPad dock. If it powers up and you see the battery logo, it’s charging fine. (Please note: it can take up to a minute to see the Apple logo) Let the device charge for a few hours and it should be up and running again.

Restart your iPad (or soft reset). Restarting the iPad is possibly the most typical means to fix an iPad problem. What you are doing by restarting your iPad is reloading the whole system, which is often sufficient to resolve numerous issues. You restart your iPad by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button for a couple seconds, and soon you begin to see the Slide to Power Off screen. Drag the Slide to Power Off slider to the right to shut down your iPad. Any time the display screen goes entirely black, your iPad is completely turned off. To restart your iPad, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo, and then let go of the button.

Reboot your iPad’s hardware (or hard reset). When you restart your iPad by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button for a while, what you are truly doing is restarting the iPad system software. Should that not work the next step is to reboot the hardware when trying to fix your problem. To restart the hardware, which is also called a hard reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. Hold them both down for approximately 10 seconds until you sell the Apple logo on your iPad screen. Should you see the Apple logo, you successfully performed a hardware/hard reset.

Shut down a frozen application. If your iPad is frozen or stuck due to the fact an iPad app not working, you can typically get the iPad in working order by forcing the application to quit. Press and hold the Home button for about 5-10 seconds. Your iPad will return to the home screen after shutting down the buggy app.

Known Bugs. Check for iPad software updates. If Apple is aware of the issues you are having, they will release a software update to patch your problems.

iPad accessories should be purchased in tandem with the iPad if you want to get the most out of your iPad. There are several accessories that Apple sells directly with the iPad that they want you to purchase. Otherwise, they would leave it up to third-party vendors to make the accessories that would enhance your iPad. However, just like Apple offers certain applications to the iPad itself, and doesn’t leave everything up to the application store, there are certain accessories that Apple believes are essential to your iPad use.

One of the most essential accessories for your iPad is the keyboard dock. This will charge your iPad and function as a working keyboard at the same time. However, if you want a keyboard that is as portable and mobile as the iPad itself, they also offer a wireless keyboard. However, users should be aware that the wireless keyboard will have some connectivity problems most likely at some point. Typing on your iPad is essential for people that want to do work on their iPad instead of just being stuck viewing media content. Make no mistake, the iPad is a great productivity device if you use the accessories to enhance its office experience.

Another accessory that you should purchase is the iPad case. While there are other cases that are out there that do just as well protecting the iPad, there are known that are so uniquely tailored to the iPad as the iPad case itself. It is sleek, chic, simple, and black. It can be folded over to prop up your iPad and view it from an angle so you can see the media content better without holding it in your hand the whole time you are viewing some media content. Other iPad cases simply don’t have the feature of keeping your iPad propped up when you are reading it. They merely protect the external shell, possibly the screen, and maybe the edges, but they don’t prop it up as well.

Another leading accessory is the camera connection kit. This camera connection kit does what it says and connects your digital camera to your iPad. You can then upload all the photos to the iPad and view them on this beautiful media display device. Without a camera connection kit, it can be hard to view the content of your photographs without going through the web first. This device is simply essential for photographers. Photographers that don’t purchase the camera connection kit will have to go through their computer first and then their photographs can be downloaded to the iPad. That simply takes too much time.

Another device is the USB power adapter. This wonderful small device charges your iPad better than a computer. It is faster, stronger, and easier than charging your iPad through a computer.

Obviously, Apple saw the need for all these products when they set out to design the iPad. They wanted people to use it for multiple uses and not just for the intended purposes that came along with the iPad when it was first ready to use right out of the box. The iPad is a multi-purpose device, and it should be used as such. Don’t neglect to purchase all the accessories for the iPad so that you can use it in any situation imaginable.

Furthermore, it is probably a good idea to purchase AppleCare with your product because it is the first generation of the device and may have some problems that come along with it. AppleCare extends the warranty of your Apple product for up to 3 years. This unique service is what makes Apple such a great company and ensures that your iPad will work for many years, and in many different situations too.
